Borealis Brass
America's Arctic Brass Ensemble

A Yamaha Sponsored Performing Ensemble

Borealis Brass at Pebbly Beach in Eurobodalla Shire, Australia

Borealis Brass is in the middle of a tremendously successful tour of Australia's Eastern coast. We had a wonderful welcome reception on December 2 at the Batemans Bay sports center. We were welcomed to country by two representatives of Australia's native peoples and given a demonstration of the digeridoo. The Shire mayor and general manager welcomed us as di PerfEx. Karen Gustafson and Hannah Johnston then performed the world premier of L'Imperatore Amato by Katia Tiutiunnik. Borealis Brass performed Sherri Marcia Damon's Amen and presented Silent Night with Hannah Johnston singing the first verse in Yupik. Thanks to Joel Forbes for the lyrics and training video for Hannah to sing them.

On December 3, we presented a lecture recital at the University of Wollongong Batemans Bay Education Center. This featured music by many composers as well as that of Katia Tiutiunnik in a context of using music to promote peace and understanding.

We performed a concert/clinic for the combined bands of Batemans Bay High School, Carrol College (Catholic High School) and St Perter's High School (Anglican) on the morning of December 4. That evening came the PerEx Gala Concert with premieres of works by Katia Tiutiunnik and performances of works by many other composers.

Today, we play at the Batemans Bay Jazz Club!
