Victor studied with Dr. Bicigo from 1998-2002. he went on to earn a BM in Trombone Performance from The University of Minnesota with Thomas Ashworth and masters and doctoral degrees from The University of North Texas with Tony Baker.

  Yamaha Artist James Bicigo is an internationally known soloist and clinician. His performances of Katia Tiutiunnik's works have been broadcast on ABC's (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) New Music Australia and he has appeared as a recitalist and clinician at universities around the United States including The University of Michigan, Michigan State University and The University of Minnesota. He has performed with the Borealis Brass in Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico and across the United States.  He is currently recording a CD of the Bordogni vocalises and compiling a CD of his compositions for brass instruments. Bicigo's works for brass are available at Sheet Music Plus.com and are published by Wiltshire Music.

     Bicigo has been hailed by his colleagues as a master teacher. He is a frequent winner of the UAF College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching Award and his trombone students have gone on to successful study at other major universities, promotions within the US Army Band system and other musical endeavors. Bicigo's composition students have had premiers and performances in international venues and have their works published by Wiltshire Music and Arts Venture.

     Dr. Bicigo's former students hold positions with the United States Army Blues (Pershing's own), The United States Army Bands and as doctoral students at major universities in the US and Great Britain.

Dr. Bicigo is a composer whose music has been performed internationally. His arrangement of Sugar Blues has been performed on radio and TV by brass ensembles in Germany and Japan. His composition The Bremen Town Musicians has been performed across the us and in Japan. It is reviewed in the October 2009 edition of the International Trumpet Guild Journal. Dr. Bicigo's compsition Polar Synthesis was recently chosen for inclusion in the International Polar Year Report (a book covering the significant events, projects and research of the International Polar Year). His work for wind ensemble Howl is an official selection of the Coups de Vents 2007. He is a member of ASCAP and his music is published by Wiltshire Music. Dr. Bicigo's music is available on Sheet Music Plus. Dr. Bicigo's composition students have had works published and performed internationally at music festivals and hold positions in major US music doctoral programs.
